Learn and share stories about local history and architecture whilst testing & improving your photography skills around south Thamesmead. This three week programme will be led by Amanda Eatwell who is a documentary and fine art photographer. You don’t need to have any previous photography knowledge, just an interest in taking pictures: Phones and cameras are welcome.
Week One, Saturday 14th June: 11am – 2pm (3 hrs)
Meet & greet with refreshments, discuss photography techniques & expectations for the day. We’ll then head out around Southmere Lake, wander through the Lesnes Estate and up to Lesnes Abbey, completing a loop to bring us back to the iconic Lakeside Centre.
Week Two, Saturday 21st June: 11am – 3pm (4hrs)
We will have a recap on the previous week, and share any pictures that we took in the first session. We’ll then take a leisurely walk to Crossness Engines Trust for a guided tour, with an emphasis on photography. Crossness Pumping Station is a wonderful building, demonstrating Victorian splendour and telling the story of the London Sewerage system! Refreshments will be provided before we make our way back to Lakeside.
Week Three, Saturday 28th June: 11am – 2pm (3 hrs)
We’re going to have some fun making unique zines for our final session! All materials will be provided for us to make these mini-magazines. We’ll let our creativity run free as we cut, stick & embellish our own images alongside other available content.
The programme is open to all adults, and designed for participants to attend all three sessions. Each session begins with us meeting at Lakeside Centre. I am looking forward to seeing you there.
