    ABOUT THE ESTATE

The estates, located in Southeast London, are a major 1960s Brutalist social housing project built on former marshland to alleviate housing shortages.

Famed for their canals, lakes and appearances in cult films lile A Clockwork Orange, they were designed as a ” town for the 21st century” with pedestian-centric raised walkways.

Much of the original, concrete infrastructure is being replaced by the Peabody housing association, with part of the estate already demolished (Binsey & Coralline Walk)

The tour will include the phases below:

  • Southmere (Phase 1)
  • Lesnes (Phase 1)
  • Parkview (Phase 2)
  • Moorings (Phase 3)
  • The Town Centre
