Ernö Goldfinger’s 27-storey Balfron Tower in East London had fallen into disrepair and out of favour. But times have changed. It is now Grade II* Listed, and there is a renewed appreciation of Brutalist buildings like this one. Guided by Goldfinger’s original vision, Studio Egret West has worked with the developer Telford Homes, as well as Historic England and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to bring the tower into the twenty-first century.
The tour will include discussion around the landscape approach and access to the heritage and contemporary show flats and communal rooms in the utility tower – including the cinema, dinning room and rooftop terrace!
